We also believe our services provide vital resolution opportunities to those in our communities who may have least access to the support they need, for example to manage complex disputes, litigation, conflict or broken relationships. On that basis we are delighted to offer discretionary discounted rates wherever we can.

We offer discretionary discounted rates to:

  • Small charities/CICs
  • Low income individuals/families
  • Clients on legal aid
  • Disabled people
  • Individuals with life-limiting conditions or at the end of life
  • Individuals who are homeless, sleeping rough or at risk of homelessness
  • Individuals experiencing discrimination, marginalisation or oppression
  • Full-time unpaid carers
  • Other individuals, families or organisations with a need, and limited resources

If we can, we will be really pleased to offer discounted rates and a flexible approach. Everything you discuss with us remains completely confidential. And if we think there is an alternative or free service provider that will better meet your needs, we won’t hesitate to recommend that route – and support you make contact with them if you would like us to.

To our customers paying our standard rates – thank you for being a part of our vision to create equitable access for all to our conflict resolution and mental health services.

Terms of Business for Our Mediation and Training Services

  1. Enquiries/Commissioning: If we haven’t yet spoken, you are invited to book a 30min initial Zoom meeting at no charge or obligation. In that call we can further discuss rates and proposed timings.  Kindly book your meeting with Arabella Tresilian using this link or via our business administrator, Emily Blake, at hello@schoolofdialogue.co.uk.
  2. Travelling for In-Person Work: For in-person work, travelling time to your venue is charged at £40 per hour, or part thereof, from BA15 2PZ. Travel costs will be charged at a cost of £0.49 per mile from BA15 2PZ, even if public transport is used. Any accommodation costs will be additional.
  3. Venue: The commissioner will arrange and pay any cost incurred in providing the venue for the mediation or training.  And for Mediation specifically, the private meetings can take place in a private office in a workplace if the parties are comfortable to do this.  Mediation meetings should ideally take place at an off-site venue, which has one room big enough to seat all parties, and further rooms for each party to meet separately with the mediator.

Mediation-specific terms:

  • We will keep the commissioner informed of the time taken as the mediation process progresses.
  • In some situations, the parties will need more  Private and / or Mediation meetings than initially foreseen,  in order to reach a successful resolution.
  • If more time is needed, we will seek approval for this extra expenditure from the commissioner before incurring any extra fees.
  • If the mediation terminates before the process is completed (either because a party withdraws, or we decide further work is inappropriate) we  will only charge for the work we have carried out to that point, unless a cancellation is made within 2 working days of the mediation.
  • Please be aware that the mediator is not responsible for the successful conclusion or resolution of the dispute.
  • Any complaints or concerns about conduct or practice can be addressed to the Civil Mediation Council with whom Arabella Tresilian is a registered mediator.

Payment and cancellation:

  1. We will invoice at the conclusion of a process or, if the process spans two or more months, at the end of the month for work carried out in that month.
  2. Please note that we are not currently registered for VAT and do not charge VAT
  1. Payment terms: 30 days
  2. Except in exceptional circumstances, where scheduled sessions are cancelled
    1. within 48 hours of the session’s due start, the time will still be charged at 50% rate
    2. on the day of the meeting,  the time will still be charged at full rate
  3. Scheduled sessions may be rearranged at 3 or more  working days’ notice without attracting a fee, however any out-of-pocket expenses already incurred will be charged for.
